The glitz, glamour, stretch limousines, red carpet, photographers unending picture taking, the careers solidified, and the legends celebrated all point to a grand evening at the Grammy’s. Artists are recognized for album of the year, best new artist, record of the year, song of the year, and many other accolades with a beautiful trophy that will eventually find it’s way into a museum or into a box, never to be seen again except by the family of the star.
Millions of dollars have been spent on 30-second commercial spots because there will be more people watch this game than any other single event in television this year. Two teams play for the ultimate title – World Champions. Super Bowl rings are won, containing more diamonds than many in the America will ever see. Many of the rings will stay locked away in a safe somewhere; however, some, like those in the past, might end up finding their way to a pawn shop or sold on eBay.
In the Word of God we read, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, to obtain an inheritance which is imperishable and undefiled and will not fade away, reserved in heaven for you,” (1 Peter 2: 3-4) We’re told of those who participate in the games at Corinth and how they received a perishable wreath, but how we, as Christians, will receive an imperishable one. (1 Corinthians 9:25) All awards given on this earth have one thing in common – they will eventually be gone because they are not designed to last forever. However, as Christians, we have a “real awards night” waiting for us in eternity, and the award then will never fade away. Live today so that you will not be disqualified from receiving your reward.
May God bless you this week as you walk with HIM!
